Watch a movie together when you are far apart
Each of you opens the movie on your own account and Futari keeps both screens on the same second. Pause to grab a drink and the other screen pauses too.
How a movie night works
One of you creates a room in the Futari extension and sends the six character code. The other pastes it, you both open the same movie, and it starts at the same moment on both screens.
After that, every pause, every jump back to see a scene again and every skip reaches the other screen in under half a second. A notice says who did what, even in full screen.
What you need
- A computer with Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera or Firefox.
- Futari, free and without an account: a name is enough.
- Access to the movie for each of you. Futari never streams the video: everyone watches with their own subscription or rental.
Talking during the movie
Futari has a small chat with six reactions. What you write shows on the other person's video, even in full screen, and nothing is kept once you leave the room.
For a real conversation, keep a call open on Discord or on the phone next to it: Futari does not carry voice.
Where it works
Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, YouTube and Dailymotion are recognized. On any other site with a video in the page, "Sync this tab" keeps play, pause and the position in sync.
Questions
Do we both need a subscription?
Yes. Each person watches on their own account and Futari only syncs the playback, so each stream keeps its own picture quality.
What if one of us has a slow connection?
When one screen is loading, the room waits for it, then both start again together.
Can more than two people join?
Yes, a room holds up to 12 people. Futari is made for two, but a movie night with a few friends works the same way.
Does it work on a phone or a TV?
Not yet: Futari is an extension for desktop browsers.
